About Filipino Language

Filipino is an Austronesian language, widely spoken in the Philippines by approximately 22 million people. The language holds association with variety of other Austronesian languages namely, Indonesian, Malay, Javanese and Paiwan (of Taiwan), Cham (of Vietnam and Cambodia), and Tetum (of East Timor). Furthermore, Filipino is the first language of the Philippines' Region, besides being official language of the Philippines and Filipino.

Speaking about the historical evidence of Filipino, the language has written transcripts in Laguna Copperplate Inscription, and it is written in year 900. The language uses certain words from Sanskrit, Malay, and Javanese languages. Words from the other languages such as Spanish, English, Hindi, Arabic, Chinese, and Tamil, have also been used in Filipino. The prominent Filipino dialects are Lubang, Manila, Marinduque, Bataan, Batangas, Bulacan, Tanay-Paete, and Tayabas.

The four main dialects include Bulacan dialect in the North, Batangas in the South, Marinduque and Manila dialect in the central region.
