About Tulu Language
Tulu language is a Dravidian language, popular among approximately 1.95 million native speakers in the south western region of India, known as Tulu Nadu. The region of Tulu Nadu comprises the districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada lying west of Karnataka and Kasaragod taluk of Kerala. Natives who speak Tulu language are known as Tuluva or the Tulu people. The language has around 3 to 5 million users in the world.
Tulu is a highly developed of Dravidian language, and falls under southern branch of the Family of Dravidian languages. The language descends from Proto Southern Dravidian, which further descends directly from Proto-Dravidian. Tulu does not have comprehensive written documents, but the language does have quantity of oral literature available in the form of Siri Epic.
